Orrin Scott: Archiving Animation with Home Media - The Disney Channel Physical Home Media Releases

As a denizen of the Internet for many years, and this is completely anecdotal, it seems Disney Channel animated programs are either beloved and fondly remembered or hardly talked about at all. The aforementioned Dave the Barbarian and Brandy & Mr. Whiskers had fallen completely off my radar until coming across them again in this project. Though, they also haven’t had any home media releases. Coincidence or causation? For now, today’s next five Disney Toons...

American Dragon: Jake Long (2005) ran for two seasons. While it was successful enough to have had two video games released on the property, no home media releases have been released.

The Buzz on Maggie (2005) ran for a single season of 21 episodes. However, no home media has been released.

The Emperor's New School (2006) is a sequel series to theatrical film, The Emperor’s New Groove (2000) and it’s direct-to-video sequel Kronk’s New Groove (2005). The series loosely continues the story told within the two films. It ran for two seasons, however, no home media releases have been released.

The Replacements (2006) ran for two seasons. Like the previously mentioned shows, it has not seen any home media releases.

Phineas and Ferb (2008) ran for four seasons of 222 episodes and two films. The first film, Across the 2nd Dimension, has been released on DVD. The second film, Candace Against the Universe, was released in August of this year on Disney+ and has not seen a home media release. The series has seen a smattering of episodes released on DVD compilations. However, a full season release, either by episode compilation or season set, has yet to be released.
