Archiving Animation with Home Media - Cartoon Network Physical Home Media Releases - Part Three

Finding out how thorough Turner has been in releasing their catalogue of cartoons will obviously have to wait until the end of this project to see the entire picture, but an unexpected place to find released episodes has been video game releases over the years. While Game Boy Advance Video had a couple of Cartoon Network specific episode compilations, the video quality was so severely compressed it isn’t quite worth diving into the history, but titles like Cartoon Network Racing featured a dozen episodes of six cartoons and the Ed, Edd n Eddy: Mis-Edventures featured a behind the scenes documentary that wasn’t even featured on the season sets. Documentation of bonus features is hit or miss for the more than 50 titles based on Cartoon Network IPs. A brief perusing of Nickelodeon and Disney games shows the same level of documentation. It might be worth going through in the future...For today, the next five cartoons.

Courage the Cowardly Dog (1999) ran for four seasons. Courage has been featured in many of the aforementioned episode compilations on DVD, but it has seen all four seasons released independently and as a series set on DVD.

Aside, Courage creator, John Dilworth, has been documenting his progress on his latest independent film, Howl if You Love Me, you can watch his progress on his film studio, Stretch Films, YouTube Channel.

Grim & Evil (2001) consisted of two stories, the adventures of Billy, Mandy and Grim, the Grim Reaper and the story of Hector con Carne, an evil dictator whose brain has been transplanted into a bear. While both series aired together, the two shows were eventually separated into their own series. The original combined episodes have not been released on DVD, but there are two episodes, "Son of Nergal" and "Battle of the Bands" that have been released on the Cartoon Network Christmas Yuletide Follies and Cartoon Network Christmas Rocks episode compilations with their original Grim and Evil opening and closing segments. In addition, all the episodes of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy were repackaged into the first season of it’s spin off and has seen a Season 1 release of said episodes.
